REPLACE PILINGS AT SAQUATUCKET HARBORS
To see if the Town will raise and appropriate or take from the Waterways Improvement Fund a sufficient sum of money to replace pilings at Saquatucket Municipal Marina and Wychmere Harbor Town Pier and and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or Private grant monies available for this purpose and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

  • This effort replaces the second group of 15 steel, 6 aging creosote tie-off pilings and with fiberglass pilings and install 8 needed intermediate class B CCA treated pine pilings within the marina. The steel pilings have become unreliable and represent a danger for the vessels and their crews that must use these berths.

    ADD TO DREDGING RESERVE FUND TO DREDGE VARIOUS ENTRANCE CHANNELS
    To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money ($175,000) to dredge various harbors and transfer $90,000 from Article 34 of 1996, and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

  • Waterway needs to be made available, navigable and safer with maintenance dredging as routine. Boats should not be running aground in Saquatucket channel. Last dredged in 2007.
  • County dredge at a cost this year of $6.75/cu.yd. ($11 booster) makes this an affordable possiblity.
  • Spoil (the sand that is removed from the channel) becomes useful as beach restoration material.

    PERMITTING ALLEN HARBOR
    To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money ($50,000) to cover anticipated costs of permitting for dredging Allen Harbor and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

    REPLACE COMFORT STATION ALLEN HARBOR

    To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to replace the comfort Station at Allen Harbor Town Landing and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

    Harbor Engineering Study

    To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money for the needs, and improvements plans for various harbors and to apply for and accept any State, Federal or private grant monies available for this purpose, and to act fully thereon. By request of the Harbormaster.

  • The Capital Outlay Plan calls for spending $100,000 to prepare plans.

    Allen Harbor Dock System

    To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum of money to replace the dock system at Allen Harbor. By request of the Harbormaster.
