The Harwich Shellfish Lab located in Wychmere Harbor has been seeding hard clams (Mercenaria mercenaria) for many
years. From the time clam seed is planted in local shellfishing waters it will take an additional 2-3 years for the seed to
reach legal harvestable size (I inch) depending on several biological and ecological factors.  Funding for this program
is procured through a combined effort of the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and the Town of Harwich Natural Resources
Department.
