Bob Anderson, 26 Olde Homestead Way, was digging quahogs in
Wychmere Harbor last November (2002) and came across a very special
Quahog indeed.
At home when he was cleaning the clams he heard something “hard” hit the bottom of the sink. It turned out to be a very dark, smooth purple “pearl” from one of the quahogs.
The quahog pearl measures 9.8mm in width and 7.1mm in height. The shell it came from measures 69.2mm across. Mr. Anderson is deciding on exactly what he will do with his find, but for now his two top choices are #1) a ring setting or #2) in a necklace pendant.
