BUSINESS:
1. Waiting List Denial
Appeals.
A
package of 19 appeal forms had been received since the April 1 deadline. Two of
these were presented at the April 20th meeting, where the Commission chose not
to act.
Paul Donovan suggested that since the deadline had changed, when the new
Harbor Management Plan came into effect, April 1 instead of May1, the right
thing to do this year would be to accept the appeals currently before the
board.
Motion: by Paul
Donovan, sec Murray Johnson “All applicants, who filed an appeal, being deleted
from the Harwich Slip and Mooring Wait List, received by May 16, 2004 will be
placed back on the wait list”
Action: Passed
unanimously
2. DEEP
PROJECT. Mr. Keon was invited for this. The project is intended as
a “Multi – Town” project. It is to get permits to create a place to dump
dredging spoils from harbors, that ca not be put on the beaches or shores.
Mr. Keon said the project has merits, but it is a permitting nightmare.
He suggested that you need one to several motivated people to keep this moving.
Hiring an engineering firm might provide a cost estimate and path through the
permitting process. The project would be more affordable if it involved several
towns. He suggested that each town should identify the needs in regards to this
project.
