                                                               Harwich, Massachusetts

                                                         Meeting, Tuesday May 28, 2002

(Town Hall Small 2nd Floor Room)

                                                                        MINUTES

Members Present:  Matt Hart, (Chairman), Lee Scarboro, Charles Beggs, Paul Donovan, Fred Clancy and Alan McMullen

Members Absent: None

Other Attendees: Tom Leach, Harbor Master and John Demango

MEETING OPENED: 7:00 PM (Note this was a brief meeting due to conflict with Board of Selectmen’s Meeting requirements that included the Waterways Commission).

MINUTES READ: The minutes for the previous meeting held on April 02, 2002 were reviewed and approved.

NEW BUSINESS: Mr. John Demango came before the Commission to discuss his situation with his new larger boat and the requirements for a larger slip. At the present time Mr. Demango’s slip and permits are based on his using the private dock of Mr. Bud Woelfel located within Allen Harbor. There was no actual vote, but the conscientious of the Waterways Commission was that Mr. Demango could remain at his present status as long as the permission for the use of the private docking, in writing, remained in effect. In addition, Mr. Demango had the right to request space on a temporary basis for other Town owned Slip/Moorings based on the same regulations that any other boater has to conform to in the Town of Harwich. He understood that if no Slips or Moorings were available for short-term rental he would have to locate his boat at the private “Woelfel Dock”.

Discussion about the upcoming BOS Meeting about Splitting the Class D (Charter) Permits into two divisions, one for 6 or less passengers one for over 6 passengers. There was also

Discussion about the suggested Waiting List, (2) passes and then you accept or reject a slip regulation change that would require a BOS Public Hearing.

Any additional new or old business was delayed to the next meeting due to the Board of Selectmen’s meeting requirements.
